JANUARY READING LIST

THE UNTOUCHABLE by John Banville. The witty and weighty journal of an Irish spy for the Russians during World War II. THE GASTRONOMICAL ME by MFK Fisher. The puff pastry memoirs of an American foody in beleaguered Europe during the 30's and 40's. BLEAK HOUSE by Charles Dickens What can I write that hasn't been better written by others about this novel by the great master of human understanding?

2011 NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION

GRATITUDE

Thank you, V. Your appreciation of my work means a great deal to me. As my friend, producer and mentor, Bones Howe once told me, 'It takes courage to be happy in this world.'

Be courageous.

A SIMPLE FORMULA

I've found that the quickest way to make people dislike you is to assume an attitude of superiority. The easiest way to make them like you is to show interest in them; who they are, what they think and do. This is only relevant if you care whether or not people like you.
